Considerable interest has been for some time taken in the barbor works, and the Board has had under consideration various plans as to how they should be completed. It had been proposed that the area enclosed should be less, so that the cost would be less ; but as contracts had been entered into which could not be rescinded without paying compensation to the contractors, aud for other reasons, the Board yesterday decided to carry out the original plan.
