AUCKLAND.
May 13. James Hedley, carpenter, fell yesterday from a ladder, a drop of rive feet, while working at the extension of the Edinburgh Castle Hotel. He died in a few hours. He leaves a wife and five children.
At the meeting of the Waste Lands Board yesterday it was stated that Grant and Forster had paid £3000 to the Agent-General as a preliminary deposit on the Te Aroha lands.
