The Government have accepted two
tenders fox the supply of cement of New Zealand manufacture ; each is for 100 tons. One sample is from Auckland and is made of Mahurangi lime ; the other is from Ota?o, and is made from lime discovered in the neigborhood of Waihola. The successful tenderers are Messrs Hibberd and Dick, of Dunedin, and Mr Atkinson, of New Plymouth, and the prices £4 6s 3d and £4 7s 6d per ton respectively. The Hinemoa with Lady Gordon arrived at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. A large crowd assembled at the wharf to meet her, The City Guards formed a guard of honor. Three cheers were given when her Ladyship stepped , ashore. The 12th and 14th of May have been appointed the days on which the property tax instalments shall be paid by all Insurance Companies. The Hon. Mr Dick has taken over the portfolio of Minister of Justice. The appointments of all Land Tax Receivers have been cancelled.
