DREADFUL ACCIDENT AT THE BRIGHT SMlLE MINE.
A _ dre\i>*Ijl accident occurred at' the Bright Smile mine winch resulted in tho instant death of a miner named Edward Uark, a young man of about twenty-five years ' f n^o. Tho part culars of the fcad affair aie very brief. It appears he run« the proper signal for hoisting the men to the surface, but did not get into the cage before the lattei began to move. The r. suit was that by some meana he missed his footing in jumping in, and was caught between tho cage and the timbers of the shaft over the chamber. He was dragged for some distance up the shaft in this manner before the accident was discovend, when lie was immediately loweied to the chamber. Ho was then quite dead, and fearfully mutilated. His head was split open, and his lower jaw fairly earned .way. An inquest will bo held to-morrow.— (lhames Coi respondent.)
