MEETING OF GERMAN RESIDENTS.
A melting of the German residents in Auckland was held last night in Mr. Bucholz"s store, Fort-street, at 8 o'clock. There were about; a dozen present. Mr. Bucholz occupied the chair, aud explained to those present the purpose for which the meeting had been held. At the outbreak of the Franco-Pnißßiau war a committee was formed in Auckland, and a sub-committee at the Thames, for the purpose of collecting subscriptions to remit to Berlin. Part of the subscriptions had been received and remitted thence, .and an acknowledgment thereof from Berlin had been returned. The various documents relating to the matter were laid before the meeting, and the balance in bauds of the Auckland treasurer, Mr. Yon der Hoyde, had been, placed at Mr. Bulcbolz's disposal ; and it was for the purpose of coming to some resolution in reference to those balances that the meeting had been called. A resolution was carried to communicate with the treasurer of the sub-committee at the Thames, and to desire him to remit to Mr. Bucholz the balance he had in hand, and then the two balances to be transmitted to Berlin to the central committee for the relief of the widows and orphans made during the late war. Another motion was passed thanking Mr. Yon der Heyde for his conduct as treasurer of the fund in Auckland. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the business of the meeting.
