POLICE COURT.-Wednesday. [Before his Worship the Mayor.]
Drunkenness. — For this offence three persons were each, fined in tlio usual manner. Breach of By-laws.— Henry Elley was charged with furiously driving in the publio streets. The defendant stated that he had a very heavy load on at the time, and the horse took fright at the wagona crossing the railway bridge at Parnell, and he could not stay the progress of the horse until he had gone about 50 yards. —Fined 203. and costs. Obtaining Money under False PrkTKNCEa. — George Lee, a young lad, waa charged with obtaining from James Linley under false pretences the sum of 3s. Sqrgeant Pardy stated to the Court that the police did not wish to press the charge, and would ask that his Worship would allow the charge to be withdrawn, and the lad would be sent to a situation iv the country. — Mr. Beveridge appeared for the lad'a parent.— The lad was discharged.
