Mr. MoTjjtAHjrod Colonel Sfc. John have arrived hero on their journey through the Waikato district In accordance with a resolution passed by a meeting of settlers held a short time ago, a deputation waited upon Mr. McLean and presented a very complimentary address, in which reference was made to the great advance made in the settlement of the Waikato and the preservation of peaceful relations with the natives, under Mr. McLeans native policy. The deputation put various questions to Mr. McLean upon local matters, which were replied to satisfactorily. To fteinga, the King's cousin, is here, having come down on a journey to Auckland with the object of seeing Mr. McLean. She has had an interview with him, but no great importance is attached to her movements.
