There is nothing particular stirring m thig quarter Worth noting. Some time ago it was talked of petitioning the Provincial Qoverumeut to open a road to Whangarei township from this settlement, but lately I e^«J nothing on the subject. It w to be hoped that this intention will be allowed to drop as the road, opening aa it would the , hearty of the Whanui block, would amneofc thehe^s, Paraa and Whangarei, and allow mtendmg settlers to occupy the land on Whanm, if S we use at preaent is abominable* passing a?ong -mangrove, flats, and O^er ty* w***. The Whanui block consists of about 11,000 acres of excelleut, but very broken land, with only 10 families on its outskirts ; and none, however willing, can occupy the heart of the block till roads are cut. The proposed toe would-open h*lt the .blocK ,wl|ile the re. mainder could be; more easiljr comeatable, and allow many families no^ holding laud in the block fa take 'possession.— [Oorrespon.
