VOLUNTEER IN TELLIGENCE.
A ereltminaey meeting of the proposed Auckland Naval Brigade was held at the | Thames Hotel last evening. There were present — Mr. John Copland (late captain 2nd Company Naval Volunteers), Lieutenant George, Mr. E. G. Jackson, R.N., Mr. Wm. O'Callaghan (late sub-lieutenant of H.M. s. ' Miranda '), Messrs. G. Strong, J. McKenzie, W. McCabe, and Captain Smith, P. A. R.L.H. Ifc was proposed by Lieutenant Jackson, and seconded by Mr. O'Callaghan, "That Captain Copland take the chair." Carried unanimously. Proposed report for the organisation of the Brigade (as submitted by Lieutenant Jackson) read. Proposed by Mr* O'Callaghan, and seconded by ftlr. Strong, "That the proposed report be adopted." Carried unanimously. Proposed by Mr. McCabe, and seconded by Mr. McKenzio, " That an advertisement be inserted in the local p ipers calling for a meeting <5t all those who wish to join the Brigade, on Tuesday evening, the 13th, at 7.30." Carried unanimously. A vote of thanks was then unanimously tendered to Captain Copland, and ths meeting broke up. The dismounted {parade of the Atiekland Troop R.C.V will beheld in the Dril -3lied to-morrow eveniug, ab 7 o'clock. Company drill in connection with No. 6 Company Rifle Volunteers takes place every Tuesday evening. Those desirous of joining the Auckland Naval Brigade are requested to meet at the Thames Hotel thia evening, at lialf-pasfc seven o'clock. o
