WHANGAREI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
A meeting- of settlers was held in the Whangarei Hotel, oa Tuesday, for the purpose of establishing an agricultural society. .Robert Sisson, Esq , occupied the chair. It was unanimously agreed that the name should be the Whangarei Agricultural Society, and the following gentlemen were appointed officebearers : — Sir S. Osborne Gibbes, Bart., president; Sir Eobert Douglas, Bart., vice-president ; Eobert Sissons, Esq., secretary ; Thomas Cottle, Esq., treasurer; and Messrs. Seccombe, Robert Sissons, Moses Bell, Whitelaw, C. Hawkins, Keed, Kay, Smith, (Ruatangata), Cottle, and Smeaton (Otaika), were appointed a committee to draw up rules and regulations, to be laid before a general meeting on the 24th October. The subscription is 10s. annually, which entitles a mem. ber to attend all meetings of the Society, and vote and take part in the same. We believe it is the intention of this Society to have a show of stock and produce as soon as arrangements can be made for the purpose.
