GOLD AT THE WAIROA.

A parcel oE stone received from the farm of Mr. F. H. Brown, ut the Wairoa, near Auckland, was forwardod to the Thames a few days ago, iv order to test its gold-near-ing quality. The stone vaa taken from the cap of a reef opened or, Mr. Brown's property, which ha 3 been traced to a width of about 12 feet, and of a likely auriferous character, although different from the general run of quartz at the Thamea. The simple was tested at the Una Company's battery, on April 20, and from 2cwt. of stone crushed a .button weighing ldwt. sgr. waa obtained.
