[WE CONTINUE OUR REPORT OF CRUSHINGS FROM THE DATE OP LAST SUMMARY.] April 1.

Two thousand seven hundred and twenty ounces of gold were shipped on board the 'Duke of Edinburgh ' by the Bank of New Zealand on April 1. Ten head have been some time upon stun from the Sunbeam Claim, about 150 tons having gone through, and the amount of hard amalgam therefrom :s splendid, being upwards of 1,2000z. from off the plates alone. The Manukau : A gem ral clearing-up for the Manukau Claim took place on Fuday, at the Waiotahi Company's battery, where ten head of stampers have been employed by that claim for upward? of a fortnight's run. A ton of picked stuff and specimens were crushed on Thursday, at the Kurauui Company's single-stampor battery. The result has judt come to haiid, and amounts to 2350z. of retorted gold. The Golden Eagle : A trial lot of 5 tons from the Golden Eagle Claim, Coromandel, was finished on Thursday, at Goodall's battery, and the retorting yielded soz. Bdwt. 12gr. of gold. The Golden Age : A retorting for the Golden Age took place to-day. The amount I of retorted gold obtained from the cleaningup yesterday was 1290z. The Flying Cloud : A pircel of 920z. 2dwt. 6gr. of melted gold was lodged at the bank to-day, being the result of 15 tons of stone from this claim. This yield is at the rate of 6oz. 3dwt. to the ton ; the value received for the gold being 535. per oz. Shotover Goldmiuing Company : The usual monthly yield from the Shotover Goldmining Company was lodged at the Union Bank this morning, namely, 5200z. gold. The Golden Crown : The usual weekly retorting for the Golden Crown took place today, and the amount of retorted gol.l obtained, including 430z. sent from the Tararu battery, is 2240z. This was melted at the Bank of New Zealand, aud gavu a result of 2170z. 7dwfc. of gold. The "Whau Company : 100 tons of stone have been put through. The retorting and cleaning up took place to-day, and gave a result of lOloz. lOdwb. of retorted gold, which, on being melted, gave a return of 970z. Bdwt. 18gr. Deep Lead: ForthemonthendingMarch3l, this company have got out 117oz. 9dwfc. melted gold, and during the past fortnight, like most of the machines on the field, it has been standing for want of water, only working six days when cleamng-up took place, and the result was 270z. Hauiaki. — Kellys : Two hundred tons of stuff have gone through, and the result 3 are highly satisfactory, giving close upon l^oz. of retorted gold Russell's. — William the Conqueror : The tributers of this company's ground cleaned up last night, having employed ten head of this fine machine for ei^ht days, and the result is payable, being (SOoz. 2dwt. of melted gold. Una : Up to the 26th this company crushed for themselves 517 tonsof stuff, whiehgavethe handsome yield of 7610z. lodwt. of melted gold, or nearly 14oz. to the ton. TLe machine has also crushed several small lots for different companies, which amount to 23 tons, which gave 460z. The 2950z. of gold obtained from the crushing for Kellys Claim were melted at the Bank of New Zealand on April 2, and yielded 2S2oz. 15dwt. 12^r. of" gold. April 4. Moanataiari Company : The usual fortnightly cleaning up of this company was brought to a close this afternoon, and the returns are encouraging. The total amount of retorted gold lodged in the bank is 1920z. lOdwt., which, when melted, gave IB6oz. lodwt. Golden Crown : The monthly returns for this celebrated company are now issued, and are as follow ; — 043 tons have passed through their own machine and that at Tararu, and the total of gold extracted is 1,4170z. lldwt. smelted gold. Souters. — Flying Cloud : A large lot qf stone from the Flying Cloud has given the magnificent yield of 970z. 12dwt. retorted gold. April 8. City of Glasgow No. 2 : A paroei of 30 tons from this claim has been going through at the Thames Crushing machine, and the .• mount of gold extracted is 470z. retorted. The Sheffield : A trial crushing of 8 tons of stone from the Sheffield Claim, Hape Creek, at Bull's machine, was finished yesterday, and the result obtained was 6oz. sdAvt. of retorted gold. The Una Company : Yesterday there were 1,2510z. sdwt. of hard amalgam to hand, which is calculated to yield a third gold. The total amount of amalg m to hand for the last retorting, which wsu the largest ever yet obtained from the mine, waa 1, 1400z f The All Nations : The final cleaning up for the All Nations was completed to-day, and gave a return o* 4oz. 19dwt. melted gold. This makes the total yield, from the crushing of 115 tons of stone, of 65?0z. lldwt. melted gold. The Shamrock t A trial of cement and sandstone, in which it was impossible to detect the presence of gold, was crushed at the Criterion battery, and finished last evening. Souters Battery.— Plying Cloud: The retorting for this slajm took place this morning, and the amount of gfo{d extracted from the 20 tons was 80oz. 3dwt., op a little over 4oz. to the ton. April 9. The Union Bank of Australia shipped per 'Dake of Edinburgh,' from the Thames, on Saturday, April 9, four boxe3, containing 3,8250z ldwt. of gold, in charge of Mr. J. P. Gi ant. Golden Crown : The -weekly cleaning up for this company is just closed, and the amount of gold deposited in the Bank of New Zealand for molting amounts to 2330z. lOdwt. retorted. Long Drive : This mine has employed ten stampers at the Kuranuibattery during thelast ] fortnight, and cleaned up on Saturday with a \ result of 5990z. 4d\vt. retorted gold. This amount includes the yield from the specimens obtained during that time. Ruby : The nine tons put through at the Una Company's machine for this claim has turned out vcrymeh indeed. The retorting took place this afternoon, and it gave 4640z. of gold, or an average of a fraction over soz. to the ton. The Eureka : A parcel of 11 tons yielded I 320 i! 4d\vt. i The City of Glasgow : A crushing for the City of Glasgow, Kuranui, has been commenced at the Kuranui Company's old battery. The ground of the Golden Gate_ Goldminiag Company was sold by auction on April 11, to satisfy creditors, and realised £140. Mr. Thomas Russell was the purchaser. April 12. Pride of the West : 135 tons for this claim gave the handsome yield of 2830z. of retorted gold, or over two ounces to the ton. Morning S l ar : The retorting for the week for this company is now closed, and 1930z. of retorted gold is the amount deposited April 13.

Dauntless and Sink -to - Rise : About eighty-five tons crushed at Partington's, and just now finished retorting, have given the handsome yield of llOoz. I2dwt. 13gr., deposited in the Union Bank of Australia. Wild Missouri : A few tons have been put through the mill, ami found to run from 4dwt. to lOdwt. to the ton. The Harbour View Specimens ; The parcel of specimens from the Harbour View Claim, ' Coromandel, which were sent up on Mon- ' day nighb, were ciushed yesterday, at Soulgv's? single-stamper battery, and the result when retorted this moinmg amounted to 40oz. Idwt. of retorted gold from lewt. of stone. April 10. Kiiranui Company : The result of the fortnight's crushing for this Company is 9130z. of retorted gold, which was deposited m the Bank ot New Zealand, and is now being assayed by Messrs. Smith and Qainn. Whau • The amount of gold sent in from this company's own machine is 560z., and from the Thames 470z., or a total of 103oz. Wild Missouri: There were 220z. lOdwt. of re orted gold lodged m the Bank of New Zealand this morning from some stone crushed at the Company's battery at Tararu. The Dauntless : The return from the late crushing was lodged in the Union Bank of Australia yesterday. The amount in retorted gold was llOoz. 13dwt., which, when melted, was 108oz. 7dwt., showing a lo&s of only 2oz. 6dwt. The Sons of Hibernia, Coromandel, have had five tons put through the single-stamper, but it did not turn out well — not quite to the ton. Vickery's. — Golden Spur : This claim has had another lot of 24 tons pub through at this machine. The yield in this instance giving over 3oz. to the ton, or a total of 740z. 3dwt. retorted gold. April 19. The Golden Square ; This claim has now about ten tons of stone to graa3, ready for crushing A trial crushing of one ton from the same lead, crushed some time since, gave a return of 2oz. 4dwt. to tho ton. The Flying Cloud : The crushing of stone at Souters Battery has been completed, and the result is 112oz. retorted gold from 20 tona of stoae, April 20. The Union Bmk of Australia shipped on April 20, per barque 'Seatoller,' for London, 4 boxes gold, containing 3, 6070z, 16dwt., and valued at £9,950, on which the amount of duty paid was £450 193. 6d. Shamrock: This claim hashadaparcel of stone pufc through at the Criterion machine, and the retorting hast taken place this afternoon with very satisfactory results, S2oz, lOdwt. being the'amounb of gold deposited in the Banlj of New Zealand. April 21. The Moanataiari Company: The gold retovlod on Tuesday has been melted, and lost 6oz. 13dwt. in tlje proce33. The total amount of melted gold resulting from the fortnight's crushing is 103oz. 18dwt. April 22. Young American : 110 ton 3 is the quantity of quartz crushed by the Prince Alfred machine for this company, and the retorting was finished this morning, with a good yield of ploae ijpon lfoz. to the ton, or a total of 180oz. of retorted gold, Hague Smith's Machine: The following are the claims which have passed lots through during the week :— Gibraltar, 8 tons, yielded fully loz. to the ton ; :-tar of the Buller, 5 tons, average loz. per ton ; Excelsior, 6 tons, which turned out exceedingly well, giving no less than 3|oz. to the ton. The Young May Moon takes possession of tho stampers on Monday, and the amount of stuff they intend to put through will be from 30 tons to 40 tons, It is expected to turn out as well as last, which was a very handsome yield. f April 23. The Shamrock : A quantity of mullock and rubbish that was hroken out of the face of the hill, and contained very little quartz, has been crushed a.t the Criterion battery, and yielded from Bdwfe. to lOdwt, tp tlje ton. (within a fraction) retortsd. The Una Company : The retorted gold was melted on Saturday, and turned out 3250z. ldwt. The yield of the mine for the month ending on Saturday last was 8720z. of melted gold. The Hape Company's Battery : A parcel of sixtonsgaveayieldofi9oz. ofgold. An eightton lot from the Gibraltar gave an average of an ounce to the ton, and a fi ve-tonlot from the Star of the Buller gave a similar result. L3U;> Drive : The usual fortuightly retorting for the Long Drive Company took place on Saturday. There had been 109 tons of general stuff crushed at the Thames C ushing Company's battery, and this yielded 2150z. retorted gold. At the Kuranui company's mill, 10 head were going for a | fortnight, and the yield obtained was 4320z. of retorted gold, making a total yield for the fortnight of 6<i7oz. retorted, gold. Armstrong : This claim is situated on Murphy's Hill, and has had a small quantity of specimens treated by the amalgamating barrel at the Tramway machine, and tht resul bis avery nice lot of gold, being no less than 9oz. 16dwt. from 251b. of stone. Poverty and Charleston : A crushing of 114 tons from this claim has just gone through at the Prince Alfred battery, and the result is very poor indeed, being no more than 230z. lldwt. for the lot. April 28. Whau have had a small quantity of specimens put through at Souters singlestamper, and from 251b. the yield was 14oz. lSdwfc. 18gr. retorted. April 29. The Onehunga Company : During the past week there have been only ten tons ot stone put through, and the yield obtained was ll£oz. of gold. The Trafalgar ; There have been two lots of stona crushed ag trials at the Hokianga battery. The first lot was scarcely payable and only yielded an average of sdwt, ojr 6d\vt. to the ton. The second lot of 4 tons yielded 2oz 4dwt. of retorted gold, which was reduced to 2oz. on being melted. This result is considered payable, a3 the money received for the gold was at the rate of £2 17s. 6d. per ounce. The Clyde : A parcel of 18 tons of stone has been put through the Hokianga mill. <*nd yielded an average throughout of | to tluj ton. The City of Carlisle : There has been a trial crushing, and the result deposited today in thd Bank of New Zealand is 14oz, 6dwt. The Plying Cloud : Yesterday a retorting took place at Souters battery, aftd a few days' run, and the result was 730z. 6dwt. of melted gold. Tapu G old-mining Company : The manager hag brouchfc into to • n 540z. of gold. Tiie Cure has had 23 eons crushed at the Waiotahi, and the stuff is from their laige reef, the yield being rather over l^oz. to the ton, or a total of 450z. April 30. For the past fortnight the Whau company has occup ed ten head at the 'Thames crushing machine, and the usual retorting took place tins morning, when 150oz. of gold were deposited in the B%uk of New Zealand. This has been extracted from 130 tons of stuff, and, if 231b. of specimens crushed the other day are included, it gives a total of 161oz. 15d\vt.

B VTTERY REPORTS. Prince Alfred. - The Inverness have had possession of ten head for some time pasf, ami the clearing up is expected to take place 021 Monday. The specimens are now going through the single stamper. Shooting Star, are now cleaning up, and the retorting will take place on Monday. Oasi^e and Galatea are now crushing with the sbampei'3 la.te.ly occupied by the Shooting Star, buc the stuff has not been going through long enough to form an opinion of it. Tramway.— Six head on for the Mariners' Reef, and six for the Belfast Company, Hauraki. — The circular portion of this battery is crushing for the Manukau, and the other portion for the West Coast, which 13 showing well for a payable return. KtHHNUi. — Thirty head for the Company, ten fcr the IjQng Drive, and the old machine for the Oifcy of Glasgow, who, vj}l clean up on Monday. Partinoton's. — The fifty tons for the All .Nations are almost completed, and the return, when forwarded, will be a splendid one. Souters. — Ten head on for the Flying Cloud, and the plates are looking magnificent, and thg remainder fq.r the Providence, whose return will be, a good payable qne. Vickery's. — The whole force of this small battery is at present engaged upon stuff from the Flying Australian, and also a large lot from the Queen of Sheba awaits its turn. Bull's. — Six head of this battery are also engaged upon 30 tons from the Young Australian, and a soven-ton lot from the Little Sweeney, besides several Qtfyer small lots, for trial. Uxa. — The whole force of the machine is engaged upon quartz from their own mines, and the yield will be a good one, showing ug well for the returns lately got. Planet. — r& fifty -Jon lot from the Wade employs the whole of the stampers tj}at $an at present be worked, and a large quantity from the Never-too-Late-to-Mend will follow. The Golden Age : Yesterday the result of the crushing at the Criterion battery was deposited in the I^.i *: } c New Zealand. It amounted in all to lQio;*. 16dwt. of retorted gold; of this, 88oz. Bdwt. was the result of a crushing of 2q tons, and the remaining 13oz. Bdwt. was the result of a number qf small lots and trial cmishinga. The gold, when melted, was reduced to 970?. Hdwt, i%*r. The Sunbeam Claim ; The last monthly crushing paid at the rate of £54 the thirteenth share, or £13 103. per week ; and the ground, so far aa ib has been tested in depth, shows signs of marked improvement,;

The lot, when melted, turned out a bar of 1230z. 15dwt. 12gr Weston's Bittery: At Western's battery they have just completed a crushing of 30 tons of .Limieson's stone. The manager anticipates a larger yield than that from former lot, which averaged from 4oz. to soz. to the ton. They are now on the Pride of the West stuff, carrying out a contract for the crushing of 500 tons, which up to the present time has averaged l^oz to the ton.^ Australasian : Here they have just completed a trial crushing for the Two-Fingered Company. The yield has not turned out so well as expected, averaging only- Joz. to the ton. The/ are now crushing a small lot for the Ploughman of ten tons, which is looking well, vfthe Candlelight are rolling in a lot of 50 tons. The Criterion : From here will be sent down to the bank to-day 100oz., the proceeds of the Golden Age, the last lot, 25 tons, yielding 870z., the balance being made np of small trial crushings. The Belfast : The plate? of the battery crushing for this claim at the Tramway battery were roughly cleaned down this morning, and the amalgam, when retorted, gave a bar of gold 115oz. 18dwt. of goodquality gold. This crushing is promising to give a splendid total return ; and as a large quantity of stone ia intended to be passed through, the shareholders will probably get a Very nice dividend. The mine is now in splendid working order, and the quantity of stono which can be taken out is expected to be sufficient; to keep a battery going continually. [The Mail gives the total ss 1250z.l
