During this ti.ne the battery has not been engaged fully upon the company's stuff; therefore, the return i« very satisfactory, being no ltss than 140oz. lOdwt. retorted gold, now in the hands of the Bank of New Zealand for melting. .Peep Lead —The return for the number of tons crushed for this claim at their small battery is very encouraging, showing, as stated some time ago, that it is participating in the prosperity which is now characterising the whole of this field. -The directory are leaving no stone unturned to fully develop that portion of the mine in which Barry's leader is found. The crushing during the fortnight— 6s tons -yielded 730z. 15dwt. retorted gold. Albuknia Company. — Ihe manager of the joint stock companies which form the above brought into town, late on Saturday evening, a further parcel of gold, which, when melted by the bank, gave 730z. ]ldwt. The Inverness : For some time past a crushing for the Inverness Claim has occupied ten head of stampers at Goodall's battery. The crushing was completed on Saturday night. Judging by the amalgam, an average of at least 3oz. to the ton will be the result. The Providence: The crushing for the Providence now going on at Souters battery gives promise of a return much greater than was anticipated.
