OHINEMURI. (FROM THE "THAMES ADVERTISER'S" CORRESPONDENT.) February 6.

February Some miners who returned from the ranges, where they had been prospecting, state that they came in close quarters with some of Te Kooti's men. The party consisted of several armed men, with aix loaded pack-horaea ; they crossed the Ohinemuri at what is called the Third Crossing. The miners escaped detection. —A great many Maoris returned on Sunday from Shortland, and I am informed, on very good authority, that one of the boats contained, among other things, two kegs of gunpowder. How they obtain it, the right they have with it, or the use it is put to, I cannot tell; all I speak to is the fact of their bringing it up here, especially in times like the present.
