ALEXANDRA. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. ) October 26.

IWENTY-five Ngapuhi natives arrived here on »ua<l«y last, en route to TokaDgamutu ; they have beeu long expected. There is no chief of any importance amongst them, with the exception of old Tawbitu. They are going up to receive tho thauks »nd some presents from the King party, for the ashiatance rendered to the Maori prisoners on their escape from the Kawau. I was not a little surprised to find they have adopted the Hauhau religion, praying especially for Tawhiao and Te Ao. Te Kooti is now at Whanganui. The native* inform me that, in the last engagement with McDonnell, he lo&t two Bngers, and tow shot in the shoulder and chest ; the bullets not yet extracted. Maunga (Rewi) wrote to him telling him to ceabe fighting. Kooti'a answer came Jast week, saying he had not done yet, and for Maunga to stand out of bis way, as be iutended to fight next in Waikato. The Thames Volunteers left here on Tuos« day last, on their return to their homes. Mr. Pennington, the landlord of tho Don caster Arms Hotel here, gave them a farewell dinner previous to their departure. About forty of the men and settlers eat down to dinner, whioh was well got up, and reflected great credit on our generous host. Our Maori friends were well represented by Mr. and Mrs. Aihipeno, of Wfliuku, who were both Aihipene U now on a visit to Tawhiao at Tokanga* mutu. I have just heard that Kereopa and Hakaraia have gone to join Kooti. 'lwentyofthe King natives from Tokaugatnutu started three days since to join our fotces against him.
