THE GOLDEN CROWN CLAIM.
Mr. T>, J, O'Keeffe has furniiked uo with tho following interesting faota in connoctiou •with the Gulden Crown Claim : — The dividends paid from this claim (about three acres) from tha 6th August, 1868, to the 6th August, 1869, has been £55,000. Paid for machinery, £5,000 ; expenses of wageß, &c, about £8,000. The average yield per ton of quartz was upwards of lloz. of gold. It is now proposed to tike out 100 tons per diem, and to employ tiufiicieat machinery to crush it. The yield of quartz would be about 80,000 tons per annum, and is expected to yield three* quarters of a million sterling. A. retorting — the seoond result from the opvr tatfcery — took place on October 20, and yielded a little over 6001.3. of gold. ThU quantity was obtained from the stuff put through on Saturday last, on which date the last retorting took place, when the result was 6820z., nuking a total of 1,2820z. of gold obtained since the start. Owing to the want of water the full force of toe battery could not be used.
