The rules of the company were alopted, and the fol. lowing gentlemen eleoted directors :— Messr*. C. Michbury, C. J. • k tuie, Jamea Heron, A. Boatdtra'i, G CoombeB, and W C. Wilson. Aft^-r some discussion, it was agreed to erect ten additional stampers to the company's bat'ery. An exttaordinary meeting of Nhareholdeis in the ITmted Goldmming Company was held tt tha office of Mr. W. Taylor, Shorthmd -street, Jast evening, when Mr. Taylor was unanimously elected legal manager, vice Mr. Lennox resigned. The ofHoe was also removed to Shortland-street. The pronpects of the company have improved veiyconsideiablyduring the past few months. The ground is being worked vigorously under tho new manager, who reports being able to obtain 30 tons of quarfz per week from the leaders at present worked. A reef, fully nix feet thick, haa been tested, whioh will pay well for crushing when the tramway pasees close to the shaft t ) enable the stuff to be taken to the machines. The capital of the company is about to be increased, the present capitxl — £3,240~beiug far below the value of the claim.
