PEOSPECTUS.

THAMES STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY (LIMITED).

Capital, £15,000, inr 3,000 Shabbs oj? £5 each.

THE purpose for which it is proposed to form the above association is the purchasing of the steamer ' John Penn,' and also, if deemed advisable, stcuring the Thames trade by the purchase of faster vessels, according to requirements. It if) proposed to raise the requisite amount of capital by the istm« of three thousand shares of £5 each, entitling the holdor of one share to travel free on the company's boats for three months, two shares for six months, and four shares for twelve months ; and it ia confidently anticipated that with tho strict economy to be used in the management dividend! will be receivable on those shares from the increased influence such a large number of shareholders will bring to bear on the travelling public. Besides the many advantages the late favourite steamer posieses in first-class accommodation, and being well found in everything requisite for the trade, the urgent necessity of keeping two good, boats on the line for the accommodation of the inhabitants and prevention of monopoly is of itself worth the amount of cepifcal proposed to bo invested, over and above the advantages likely to accrue to the individual shareholders ai a profitable speculation. Tbe pric9 at which she can now be purchased at the Maftukau is £13,000 ; the balance will be sufficient to pay expense! in bringing a cargo of coals from the Bay of Islands for the use of tbe utoamerv. A boaid of direcora will re appointed from among the shareholders, and an efficient and economical system of management carried out under their instructions. Minute inquirios into her expenses have shown the projectors that £400 per month will clear all ex- | pen^ta, from whioh may be deducted £80 per month profit, or victualling, &c, thus leaving a clear profit on a daily traffic of twenty passengers, which is less by one-half than is shown to have travelled on this boat the last six months, and that against * formid- j able combination, I From the large and influential list of names who have already intimated their intention of securing an interest in this safe and profitable adventure, the promoters have forwarded a requisition to the owner to have the steamer detained at the Manukau for four dayn, during which it is oonfldeatly anticipated the whole of the shares will be allotted. Application for shares, enclosing a deposit of £2 10s. per share, to be made to Messrs. Ledger and Francis, Grahamstown ; Messrs.
