THE IMPERIAL CROWN.
The Long Drive Extended has latoly been altered in name to the Imperial Crown. The ground is situated directly on the line of the reefs from the Long Drive, and the shaft is being put down in the enclosure of Goodall's machine. It Was only a few da\s ago that we noticed tho starting of this shaft, ami on Satiud.iy, at a depth of twenty fott, the cap of a highly auriferous leader was struck. The casing was proved gold-bearing, and from the leader, which is found to be something over a foot in thickness, some most excellent S|>eumen«i were taken. The whole of the ecrip was withdrawn during the afternoon. The nmiiDg of the reef in thia claim, and in the Golden Gate, will s>o some way towaids setting at rest the question whether or not the Gulden Crown and Long Drive run into the flit at such a dtpth as to render the f>asy woiking of them a uaatter of practicability. — Thivs, September G.
