'Jhe John o' Groats Goldmining Company: I he cnifching for the J. hn o' Groat^ Claim, at Claikson's Gold Discoverer biiterj', has given a return far beyond the most sanguine expectations of the shareho dets. Five tons of (-tone, fiom which the specimens had kxen picked, gave the handsome yield of 40> z. 3dwt. of gold, an average of more than 8 z. to the ton. There are now about 70 tons of stone stacked on the claim, and we understand that ciu-hina; will be continued. The reef it elf is 4^ feet in width, ai.d has turned oiit a lema-kably rich 1 t of apt cimenn. Since the crushing sorip has cousider ably advanced in prce, and a parcel of scrip changed hands on Saturdiy at £4 10s. each. One of the shareholders of the Full Moon Claim, at HaRtingR, ou iratur^a}', exhibited some splendid specimen stone obtained in a feeder from the vari ma leaders m that claim. The t>t^ne was evidently a patch of the charaoter for whioh the ground id this neighbourhood was so celebrated some time ago. 1 he shareholders of the Gladstone Claim are now engaged sinking a shaft for the Peep o'Day reef — a continuation of the Waitemata and Golien Crown — which they expect to reach in about SO feet.
