The electors of the district of^Timaru, in refusing to elect a member for the ProVinc ; »l Council of Canterbury, declared that pmvrncwliam did not meet the w»nts of the district in matters of local selfgovernment. When the Returning uffioer called the nomination no caudidate offered.
