TRIAL TRIPOE THE P,S. ULLA ROOKH. An official trial trip of this beautiful little steamer took place yesterday, under the superintendence of Mr. Stewart, Government Inspector of Steamboats. She has been built to the order of Captain Casey, at the shipbuilding yard* of Mr. R. Stone, Mechanics' Bay. The following are her dimensions ;—Bo£t length of keel, 86 feet over all, 13ft. 2in. bratdth of beam, andsft..6in. depth of hojd. The style in which she has been, turned out reflects great credit on her builder, Mr. Stone ; and she will no doubt take the Vt \ \ r\og one of the fastest steamers in the Thames .\ i i ir'.ifh she is to be employed, running ; ... Au^iand and Tapu. Her engines are , - L resiure locomotive, and were manufac* .ared by,. Messrs. Ruiton and Proctor, of Lincoln ; and her spacious cabin is all that could be desired, both for comfort and accommodation. Captain Casey .deserves great praise for hit enterprising zeal in endeavouring to promote the shipping interest of this port ; and we hope he will receive a fair share of support atthe hands of the people of Auckland. The Lalla Rookh left the Queen-street Wharf at 2 p.m , with a number of gentlemen on board who had received invitations from Captain Casej, and steamed as far as Brown's Island, which she made in 35 minutes, and at the meainred mile she w»s running at the rate of 11 knots an hour, with ~iij sea ; and after cruising about for some time, she came alongside the wharf at 5 o'clock. Every one on board seemed satisfied at the style in which she performed her work. She will be under the command of Captain Smith, and, as wo hare already stated, will trade between this port and Tapu.
