A. New Zbaland Gazktte was published og October 10. A piece of land at Manawatu comprising an area of 440 acres, and included in the deed of cession made between Wareta te Waba and Dr. Featherston, »nd claimed by Parakaia to Pouepa. has been referred by his Excellency to the Native Lands Court in order that the title may be investigated. A despatch in printed from the Duke of Buckingham to Governor Sir G. Bowen, as follows :— , " Do wning-street, August 10, 1868. " Sir, — I have recently received several communications .from' the provinces in New Zealand otherwise than through yourself. " I request that you will call the attention of the Superintendents of provinces to the 217 th and foling Colonial Regulations, and inform them that it' will not be possible for me to take notice of communications forwarded to mo otberwiie than as the regulations require. These regulations are printed in the Gazette, and are to the effect that al< communications for the Secretary of Btate must be forwarded through the Governor," The Governor's assent is signified to the Thames Goldfield Representation Act, 1868. • William Harrison, Esq., is appointed Registrar of Mamages, and of births, dea'hs, and marriugea, for the' district of Mangapai. William JNiobolaa bearancke, Esq., is appointed for the Resident Magistrate's district of Kaglan under "the[|Reiideiit Afagiatratrs Act, 1867, vice R. O. Stewart, Esq. , Frederick) Augustus Blaydei is appointed clerk of the Resident Magistrate's Court, Otaki, vice G. W. Woou. The following notice is published to Justices of the Peace: — "Justices of the Peace resident within each district now constituted, or hereafter to be constituted, under the Petty Sessions Act, 1865, aro ' referred to the 7th section of that Act, and requested to agree among themselves as to the most convenient time and place within their district for the meeting required by the Act, in order that the Government may, upon being informed thereof, issue the necessary proclamations." J. Howard Jackson is licensed to survey lands under the Native Lands Act, 1865. Enoka te Whanake is appointed an assessor under the Native Lands Act.
