THE WEATHER. For the last; month the prevailing winds hare been from the west and south-west, and during that period we have been visited with several heavy g*les from those quarters. It is long since we have known the winds stick so perversely to the west and south, and people are beginning to look for a change with considerable interest, for the weather at present is wet, cold, and boisterous. If, however, we can place any faith in Lieutenant Saxby's (R.N.) prognostications, we shall have at least another week of high winds, as he has prophesied that there will be heavy gales all over the world from the 15th to the 21st October ; and if we may judge from the last two days, we should certainly say that his propheoy will be fulfilled, at least so far as Auokland is concerned*
