PROPOSED BRIDGE OVER THE KARAKA.

A meeting was held at Stephenson'a Royal Hotel, Waiotahi, on Monday evening, to discuss the advi•ability of erecting * bridge over * h ° Karaka Oreeit on the beach road from Shortland to Waiotahi. Mr. Stepbenson was called to the chair. After some discussion as to ownership of land m the vicinity of the proposed bridge, it was resolved, "That Mr. Armstrong and Mr. Brown be requested to wait upon the Warden, requesting his advice and assistance in making a bridge over the Jiaraifa Creek, and improvement* in the beach line of road from Shortland to Tookey's Flat." This was adopted, and it was then moved by Mr. Brackenbury, and seconded by Mr. Kawlins, " That a committee be appointed to collect subscriptions in furtherance of the object of this meeting, and that subscription lists be opened at the Banks for the ■ame purpose ; the committee to consist of Messrs. Stephenson, Armstrong, Young, Brown, Wells, and Davii/' It was then agreed to advertise for plans i *nd tender* for a bridge, and to receive and open the ' same at an adjourned meeting to be held at the same time and place on Monday next, when the subscription lists and report of the deputation to the Warden will be received.— Advertiur.
