Ttie registrations for sale of individual shares in what may be called the best claims are uot numerous ; an<i wheu holders in these claims sell, the proceeds are generally appropriated for the joint benefit < f the parties, tnat tuey may be enabled to hold by what may be termed to them "prizes" of much value. During the week Mr. Andrew Sturgeon, of Drury, and party, had one-half of their claim— the Lucky Hit— under offer for a moderate sum, £600. Meantime gold is discovered in quantity, and £2,000 is no# declined for the like interest. A.rr*ngemeuts h*ve beea made to erect machinery in this claim — some three mi'es distant from Short land, over the ranges. Jhe like remarks apply to the Golden Cup, and other claims.
