PAPAKURA ASSOCIATION.— ANNUAL SHOW.

Thi annual show and dinner of the Papakura Association were held yesterday at Papakura. The exhibits were all deposited in the show-room by about 9 o'clock, and at 11 o'clock the judges commenced the inspection of the articles, during which the public were, as usual, excluded from the show-rooms. There was a large attendance of the settlors from a wide circle, and several gentlemen from town. The following were the judges in the different classes: — Cereals: Mr. Bassett, Mr. T. Shipherd, Mr. Baird. Vegetables and Dairy Produce : Mr. D. Thomson, Mr. K. Robertson, Mr. J. West. The duties of honorary secretary were ably discharged by Mr. Ji B. Hay. As regards the show itself, we may say that the general opinion coincided with the awards of the judges, and also with the opinion of those gentlemen as expressed at the dinner. The show of seeds was exceedingly good, far beyond what has been seen at any prerious show ; the dairy produce was, on the other hand, as much inferior to former shows. This resulted from the fact that only a few settlers cams forward to exhibit in this class. The show of potatoes, as usual at Papakura, was large and excellent. A considerable quantity of fruit was shown, the quality of which was excellent. A sample of European flax was shown, with the seed, grown from the seed supplied by the Superintendent. Several persons declared they never saw such fine flax at home.
