VOLUNTEERS FOR OPOTIKI.
Br the ' Lord Ashley,' we learn that the Colonial Goverament steamer ' Sturb' was ljing at Napier in readiness to steam to Opotiki on the afternoon of Monday last, hating on board 100 men of the constabulary force. The men had marched a distance of 40 mi'es on the previous day (Sunday), in order that no time might be lost in arriving at the locality of operations. The ♦Sturt' was to proceed to Tauranga after landing the yolunteers, and took the 'Lord Ashley's' mails for tbat place in order to facilitate the earlier arrival of the latter steamer at thii port.
