MUNICIPAL REGULATIONS.
To th« Editor of th« Daily Southkkn Ckoss. Sib,— If you would kindly give an answer to th« two following questions, you would oblige the public, I think, as well »s myself. First, if there is a law that require! the owner's name and place of abode on a cart, ought there not to be some rule with regard ,io the method that such name and place of abode " is put on, both as to Bize of letters and what material they are put on ? You see some in paint, some in red chalk, some in white, and some in ink, and nearly all of the latter description illegible. My second question is, Are not the police supposed to keep the side-paths in the streets passable ? One side of the foot-paths in Queen-street is perfectly impassable for ladies near.the different auction marts, more particularly on Saturdays ; and 1 have seen ladies with children obliged to go out into the road in the mud, rather than run the chance of pushing through the crowd.— I have, Ac, r • -r Looker-on. FVhere i« a law regujring the namg anU place of ft bo/ie of the owner to be painted pn a capt. The lettering mu«fc be distinct It is the duty of the p olice to keep the Bide p»tbi p»M»ble,-BD.
