•Eetttrk of sick treated during the week ending April 27 :— Remaining last return, 104 ; admitted since, 13 ; discharged, 8; died, 5j remaining, 104. These maj be classed as follows : — Feveri, 4 ; ocular, 3 ; cerebral, 26 ; cardiac, I ; pulmonary, 14 ; bowels, 4 ; urinary, 4 ; rheumatic, 6 ; stramous, 5 ; syphilitic, 1 ; abscess and ulcer, 8 ; contusion, 1 ; fracture, 5 ; amputation, 1 ; uterine, 1 ; infirm, 20. The deaths — 3 from pulmonary disease, 1 from cancer, and 1 from abscess.
Dr. Busby, while master of Westminster School, invited the father of one of the boys, who came to see him, to take a glass of wine with him. While conversing, the doctor sent for the boy, and thus addressed him : "Since your father is here, take a glass of wine— Paucum vini acuit ingenium (A little wine sharpens wit)." The boy immediately answered, " Sedplu* vini plus ingenii (But the more wine the more wit)." "Hold ! my young fellow," interrupted thedoctor, " althoughyouarguedmathematicallyyou shall have bat one glass.'*
