CANTERBURY.

The commercial operations of the past week have been of a very limited character, and the traders generally complain of the unusual dulness of the season. The mail vi& Suez has occupied the attention of the merchants for the past two days, and has tended to add to the general dulness. There are a few articles in demand, but cren in these the transactions are exceedingly small. Bottled stout of first-class brands commands a good price for both quarts and pints, and is scarce. There is a good deal of inferior quality in the market, which is very umalsable. Bulk ale is scarce, and East India pale sells readily to arrive. Bottled ales are very dull of sale, Cornsaoks are improving in value, and are worth, for full weights, 16s 6d to 17« per dojjen. There ii a shade better feeling for hams and bacon of Engliah cure, and aliofor cheese. The money market and exchanges remain as before. Gbain Repobt.— The market is still heanly rop* plied with produce, though growers are making great efforts to hold their stocks. The best samples of oats exhibited sold at 2s 6d per bushel, and good feed could be bought at 2s 4d. Wheat and barley went off heavily *t last week's prices ; wheat at from 2s 9d to 3s 3d per bushel, and malting barley at from 4* to 4s 6d per bushel. Good Canterbury flour was offered at £9 per ton. Sharps and bran may be quoted at £4 4s and £3 3s respectively per ton.— Lyltelton Times, April 20.
