NAVAL INTELLIGENCE.

We quote from the Panama Star and Herald : — The course 'of H.B.M. armour-plated Ship 'Favourite,' originally intended for the Pacific station, has been altered, and she is now on her way to join the squadron on the Atlantic Coast of North America. Captain Richard A. Powell, C.8., at present commanding the cadet training ship 'Britannia,' at Dartmouth, has accepted the command, offered to him by the Admiralty, of the screw unarmoured frigate 'Topase,' 31 guns, 2,659 tons, 600-horse power, as second officer in command of her Majesty's ships on the Pacific station, vice Captain Michael de Courcy, returning to England. The ' Challenger,' 20 guns, unarmoured screwcorvette, Captain R. B. Magnire, sailed from Spithead on May 30 for Austialia and New Zealand, where, on arrival, Captain Magnire will hoist hia broad pennant as Commodore in command.
