IMPORTS — FOREIGN. Per Salcombe Castle, from Newcastle- 180 tons coals, Capt. James ; 7 bags beaus, 2 boxes scales, 1 bale twino, D. McPhee and Co.
The schooner Salcombe Castle arriveiin harbour on Sunday morning, fourteen days from Newcastle, with a cargo of coals on board. She reports' N. E. winds across. False Hokianga was made on Sunday week in the morning, since which time she has 1 experienced light vaiiable winds) from N.E. and E. She repoits a great number of fish, principally supposed toibe right whales, at about 40 miles off the West Coast. The Salcombe was in Auckland, it will be remembered, some two years ago. Since that time she has changed hands, and is now the propeity of Captain James, late of the George Henderson, who commands her. She is a fine roomy West of England built craft, with great stowage room, and ia altogether well adapted for the inter-colonial trade. We wish Captain James good f 01 tune with her. The Kathleen, winch was laid on for Auckland, could not, it appears, find a cargo at Sydney, and had gone to Newcastle, where she was loading at the time of the Salcombe Castle's departure. The City of Melbourne and our old friend the Heathei Bell were likewise loading theie, the latter for Launceston. The Caroline, gunboat, sailed for Taranski on Sunday last, with the news of the march of the Waikatos to that Province. ' '
