The competition among buyers at Messrs. Cheeseman's "Wool Sale on Wednesday last, the 4th instant," was exceedingly brisk, and the prices obtained for all classes considerably in advance, arising unquestionably from the firmness in the Home markets. Liecester, in grease, realized lOd. ; Merino washed, 1/6. ; half-bred in grease, 1/1 ; mixed washed 1/6 J. The vendor* were highly satisfied, and only regret that the fine prairie like Sheep runs in the South of this Province, should yet be locked up in the hands of a native popu-. lation, thus preventing this most valuable export front exhibiting a rapid increase. Mr. "W. Hunter held his usual weekly sale at New* , market on Tuesday lant, and sold a good supply of 1 cattle at fair prices. Beef was plentiful and sold well, several lots bringing from £8 ss. to £13 17/6. Dairy Cows, of good quality, sold for good prices, several head bringing from £12 2/6 to £14 10s. Store Cattle were not brought forward in large quantities ; those offered were quitted at satisfactory prices, selling in lots from £5 10s. to £7. Sheep were plentiful. A lot of about 300 Ewes and Lambs sold for 245. a pair. Fat Sheep brought from 17/6 to 245. each, and Lambs 1 from 7/6 to 13/9. 2 Horses sold privately for £30, and £11. On Wednesday last, Mr. Hunter held a Sale of Wool, at the Stores of Messrs. Henderson & Macfarlane, and sold a good number of Bales, at prices which were highly satisfactory to the growers, and which from the quality of the Wool, will no doubt prove equally satisfactory to the purchasers. Wool, in grease, Bold at high prices, several lots realizing a considerable advance upon the amount generally given for Wool in that itate. The prices ranged from lljd. to 1/1. For some of the washed Wool, consisting principally of halfbreed, the price reached as high as 1/7 J per pound.
