MONDAY, Dec. 5.
There was only one person charged with drunkenness this morning ; the offence taking place on Sunday he was fined 10s. and costs, or 48 hours durance. The following seamen — viz , Joseph Lamb, Patrick Brophy, Thomas Bates, John Kelly, Thos. Crutchley, Thomas Burke, William Curtis, and Charles Stewartwere placed at the bar, charged by Captain Comstock, of the brig " Jane," with refusing to weigh anchor, for the purpose c£ J&tofciifyJb^s&frOfy Saturday lajfc. Al} th.e men pleadsa ggilty,*'and^ with the exceptiqn of Crutohley, who was remanded till to-morrow for the production of. the articles, were sentenced to be imprisoned 4 weeks with hard labour. During the day the men who were sentenced were, at the request of the Captain, placed on board by the Police, and the "Jane" a few hours afterwards left the harbour.
