DELEGATES’ VISIT
Kindergarten Conference
Interlude
Delegates to the New Zealand Free Kindergarten conference in Wellington were afforded the opportunity of visiting three kindergartens yesterday morning. Members of the Wellington association provided ears and the first visit was to Newtown, a model kindergarten where all essential needs of children are met. Miss Wilson, principal of the Wellington Kindergarten Association, explained the kindergarten's outlay, pointing out its advantages and suggesting alterations that could be made in future buildings. This talk proved most helpful to new associations. Morning tea, prepared by two mothers, was served. The next visit was'to Taranaki Street, where a nursery school is established. This venture was a new experience in kindergarten work and created much interest. A good example of how a kindergarten building could evolve from an old structure was provided when the Miramar kindergarten was visited later.
