FILM MANAGER RETIRES

The retirement of Mr. P. W. Maddock, general manager of Metro-Goldwyn-Muy-er (N.Z.) Ltd., is announced. He joined the company when it was formed in 102 G. He had charge of the publicity for such pictures as "The White .Sister’’ and "Ben Hur.” In 1927 he was appointed to. the sales staff, and in 1930 was appointed general manager and director of the company. He is well known to motion picture exhibitors in all parts of the country, having handled some of the finest pictures to come to New Zealand. Mr. Maddock was elected president of the 33 Club in April anA presided at the club’s reception to Gracie Fields and party..
