FIRE AT KHANDALLAH

The combined efforts of the Thorndon and Khandallah fire brigades shortly after 9.30 yesterday morning, saved an eight-roomed, wooden house at 39 Cockayne Road, Khandallah, from complete destruction. Firing underneath a copper fell out and set the washhouse ablaze, endangering the whole house. Two machines were promptly on the scene and by the use of one hose the fire was rapidly under control. The washhouse was gutted and every room in the dwelling, though untouched by lire, was damaged by smoke. The owner is Mr. J. T. Inkersell.
