It is always Interesting to see the young idea sprouting in the garden of music. Several stages of this growth may always be observed at the perennial recitals given by the pupils of St. Mary’s Convent (Hill Street). The musical evening given iu St. Frauds Hall recently attracted, a large audience, and the children’s deportment and playing showed the wisdom of giving the young ones the opportunity of exhibiting their powers, however feeble, before their elders. It breeds confidence, and inspires them, one and all, to do their best in a censorious world.

due feature about the first part of the programme, for the rather young, was the use of pictorial suites for the pianoforte, in which the picture was contributed to l in duets or quartets.
