CHILD GUIDANCE
, A New Zealand woman doctor, Dr. Clara Lee, has arrived in Melbourne from the Dominion to do pogt-graduate work in psychiatry. .Dr. Lee was the only woman doctor in the R.N.Z.A.h ~. and was there for 13 months before joining the Mental Hospitals Department. Dr. Lee is a firm believer in the preventive side of psychiatry, such as child guidance clinics, which she considers will play a much larger part m future every-day routine, preventing square pegs being placed in round holes. Such “pegs” often become the patients psychiatrists meet in after life. . That sex education should be a specialized subject, taught ouly by the most carefully selected teachers, is the view held by Dr. Lee, who maintains that the girls and boys with the healthiest outlook on this controversial subject were those who had been taught the meaning of sex as a normal procedure. . She feels that the proper handling of this important subject should produce happier men and women.
