Vice-Regal. Government House, Wellington, August ‘JG. This afternoon his Excellency the Governor-General, attended by Major H. A. Jaffray, was present at the North Island versus South Island Services Rugby match at Athletic Park. Iler Excellency Lady Ncwall was present at a party given by the New Zealand Nurses’ Christian Union at the 'Wellington Hospital. August 27. Their Excellencies the Governor-Gen-eral and Lady Newall attended divine service at the Cathedral Church of St Paul this morning.

Mr. S. N. Ziman, Hamilton, has accepted an appointment with the Bombay Government, and proposes to leave for India as soon as arrangements can be made for transport. Mr. Ziman is a Rhodes Scholar. He received an appointment with tho same Government in 1911 and served for 14 years, resigning to return to New Zealand for health reasons. Ho is to take a prominent part in post-war reconstruction work in the Bombay Presidency, for which a special department has been created. In the Great War Mr. Ziman served with the Indian Army on the North-west Frontier. with the rank of captain. He has been with the National Military Reserve Hamilton unit on coast defence work in this war, and also with the 2nd Waikato Regiment, holding his previous commissioned rank.
