Secondary Schools

The following statement has been made by the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Association: — “Reporting back to the conference alter interviewing the Prime Minister, a deputation from the Secondary Schools Association stated that the Prime Minister had requested tho association to regard the scale of salaries known as the 1939 scale as a temporary measure He emphasized the necessity of stabilization at the moment, but asked the association to consider, together with the Technical Schools’ Association, the acceptance of a consultative committee to work on a plan of recruitment of teachers, conditions of employment and salaries, the plan to be prepared so that immediately stabilization is lifted it may be submitted to the Government for consideration. The Primo Minister stated that there were anomalies in the WoJ scale, and invited the Secondary Schools' Association to consult with the. Education Department and the Stabilization Commission in order that these may be removed. . . “As the result of the removal of these anomalies will be a further increase, the executive appointed the secretary, Mr. E. J. Aim, to consult with the Education Department, and decided to ask for further details concerning the consultative committee which had been proposed. ’
