"Man And His World”
Sir. —My attention is drawn to a resolution appearing in Friday's issue of “The Dominion” unanimously adopted by a meeting of the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ Association at its annual conference in Wellington. The latter part of the resolution, which concerns the introduction into schools of the textbook “Alan and His World,” is reported as follows: —“If every book containing passages to which objection may be taken were to be removed from the list, we fear that in certain subjects few books would remain.” This statement, sir. is not sincere, inasmuch as it evades the real issues that have been raised with respect to the book in question. It is therefore surprising that the delegates to the Secondary School Association’s conference, having adopted' the resolution, should publish the statement which is so completely misleadin" to the general public.—l am. ete., N. A. MALCOLM. Feilding, August 25.
