PESA CROSSED

Eighth Army Push Toward Florence N.Z. TROOPS TAKE HEIGHT LONDON. August 3. British and Indian troops of the Eighth Army fighting their way toward Florence from the west after Hie capture of Catiglione. have crossed the Pesa River on a two-mile front. They have advanced a mile, and at this point arc about nine miles from the city.

In heavy fighting south-west of Florence the New Zealanders have captured a commanding height, the last mountain wedge before Florence. This advance, of more than 1000 yards, was made by Maoris, who overcame fanatical German resistance.
