N.Z. Pilot’s Reconnaissance Flight I Received July 23. 7 p;.m.) KANDY. July 22. Flight. Lieutenant K. J. Newman, D.F.C., llokianga, made a record photographic reconnaissance fliglit by flying a Mosquito a round trip of 225 G miles from_ a Bengal base, says the correspondent of the Associated I’ress. Fliglit Lieutenant Newman' and ills navigator, who are known as "the 2000-milers” for their previous four flights exceeding 2000 miles, crossed tlie Bay of Bengal at a height of 23.000 feet and circled a search area for one hour. The fliers were seven hours 20 minucs aloft, during which they maintained a speed of 300 nrles an hour.
