After the meeting of the new Cabinet, General Koiso. broadcasting, urgently appealed to the Japanese for full confidence in the new Government and promised more vigorous prosecution of the war. “The ups and downs of war are inevitable ordeals in Japan’s sacred war for the world’s welfare.” a commentator said. “Shigemitsu’s retention indicates that Japanese foreign policy will not be changed in the slightest degree.’ He also told listeners that General Koiso bad two nicknames. “Tiger of the Chosen, because he is strong and reassuring as a tiger, and “Singing Frog.” because he sings like a frog.
