(Received Julv 23. 9.10 pan.) WASHINGTON. July 22. The I’aeilie Fleet communique says American troops have captured Alifan, in Ihe southern area of Guam. In the north, the road from Agana, the chief town, to Bitilown, is in our hands. Our northern beach-head, extending from Asan Point to Adelup Point, was under mortar fire. On Thursday night the enemy launched a counter-attack on the eastern side of our line in the northern sector, which was thrown hack after daylight by our troops supported by an air, naval and artillery bombardment. Nabras Island is under our control.
