AIRMEN TAKE DYER

Run Service Club For A Day Many of the servicemen who have visited the Cinderella Club in Wellington during the past three years and a half have shown their appreciation by gifts and letters, but last Sunday club members were given a complete rest and surprise when about 30 Air Force men took over for the day. All kitchen and check-room duties were done and not only did they serve afternoon tea, tea and supper, but they cooked the hot meal at teatime, which had to be served in two sittings owing to the large number of servicemen and members present. They also arranged and provided the entertainment. Items given between dances were by members of the orchestra, all of whom were R.N.Z.A.F. personnel, and Miss Burnett’s pupils gave exhibitions of Highland dancing. One bright spot of the evening was a mock court, when several of the men and members were duly charged and found guilty. On behalf of the men. J. Elmsley presented Mrs. Henderson, the president, with a stand holding a brass ash tray and matchbox holder. Also on behalf of the men, R. Mills presented Mrs. Brunt, the secretary. with a dart-board for the club. The members of the Cinderella Club heartily thank those men for showing their appreciation in such a manner.
