HEAVY GOING AT DUNEDIN
Dominion Special Service. DUNEDIN. June 1. A pleasing improvement took place in the weather at Wingalui this morning. Bright sunshine dispelled an overnight mist, and training operations took place under pleasant conditions overhead, but the going was deep and heavy and cannot be otherwise for ther opening day of the meeting. This morning’s work did not. go beyond strong working gallops under a hold. Among those worked were Bashful Lady, The Raker, St. Cloud. Lord Nuffield. Boloyna, Gulf Stream, Foxhaven, Sir Saladin, Kawhamai, Fairy Bard, Maggiore. Heidelberg was schooled six fences on the schooling course, and Invincible and Phil Boa over hurdles. Phil Boa went well. The following riders are engaged for the Birthdav Handicap: Bashful Lady, R. ,T. Mackie; Lord Nuffield, K. Wilson; Platform, A. Anderson; Boloyna, A. E. Didham; Foxhaven, C. Wilson; Gulf Stream, A. Messervey; St. Cloud, C. Mackie; Sir Saladin, W. F. Ellis; Itawhamai, G. Hampton; Maggiore, H. Ford.
