GERMAN PLOT FOILED
LONDON, May .’IL Special detachments from the Middle East Narcotics Board, in a series of simultaneous raids throughout. Egypt, Palestine and Syria, smashed a German plot to smuggle drugs into the Middle East, reports Reuter’s Cairo correspondent. They swooped last night and arrested 53 members of a Germaneon trolled i n terna t ional d rug-run n ing organization. A raid in Cairo was carried out in the troop-thronged fashionable Solinian Pasha highway, where police seized a Syrian bank eierk. a 'Swiss chemist, a doctor, a trader, and a pharmacist. It is disclosed that the German plot was foiled after months of unrelenting work by the police forces of Egypt, Palestine. Turkey and the Lebanon. Russel Pasha, a celebrated narcotic fighter, and commandant of Cairo’s city police, instructed special police by means of films taken of the suspects, nnd withheld the arrests till the net was absolutely tight.
